Terminologies

Car engine flywheel (bánh đà)

crankshaft (trục khuỷu)

The clutch disc presses against the surface of the flywheel

diesel engine (động cơ nén cháy)

petrol engine (động cơ xăng)

Clutch

clutch plate: đĩa ly hợp / bố côn; press against the flywheel

When the clutch pedal is pressed, the clutch diaphragm spring pulls the pressure plate away from the flywheel thus disengaging the clutch from the engine

after selecting gear, slowly release the clutch while pressing the gas pedal

• lower gears: higher torque, lower speed

• higher gears: lower torque, higher speed

• Mấy cái bánh răng ở trên connect to the flywhell (input shaft) & the drive wheels (bánh xe) or the output shaft

• Ở dưới không connect vô cái gì cả, nó chỉ có nhiệm vụ tạo ra gear ratio. Nó gọi là counter shaft.

• The transmission controls the speed & torque available to the drive wheels

Torque x Speed = Power

The power do not change

• 1st gear: gear nhỏ quay gear lớn nhất; ratio gear nhỏ quay 4 vòng thì gear lớn quay một vòng
• 2nd gear: gear nhỏ quay gear lớn nhì; ratio gear nhỏ quay 2 vòng thì gear lớn quay một vòng
• 3rd gear: 2 gear gần bằng size nhau: ratio gear nhỏ quay $1.4$ vòng thì gear lớn quay một vòng
• 4th gear: the input & output shafts are directly connected không thông qua counter shaft; ratio 1:1
• 5th gear: output shaft higher speed than the input shaft
